While Brazil is the most often talked about emerging country, Brazil´s Bovespa had the worst performance of all stock exchanges in the Americas in 2010. In percentages:
Peru | 11,82 |
Venezuela | 11,33 |
Nasdaq (USA) | 8,46 |
Chile | 7,93 |
Colômbia | 7,85 |
S&P 500 (USA) | 6,42 |
Dow Jones (USA) | 5,57 |
Argentina | 3,26 |
México | 1,76 |
Brasil | -1,54 |
The analysis is by Brazil´s Economatica. Bovespa´s return was heavily influenced by Petrobras, PBR, which declined after its IPO. Without the PBR effect, Bovespa would have returned 6%.
