Backtesting of Monthly Alerts on SPY, XLF, and QQQQ Versus Buy and Hold

As readers here know, we have done some several backtesting of INO's monthly alerts. With recent market events, I ran these tests again for QQQQ, SPY and XLF.

Here are the charts showing each buy and sell alerts (please click to enlarge):

Results

Here are the results for $10k invested initially, compared with buy & hold.
  • SPY: +21.5% vs -3.43%
  • XLF: +77.06% versus -48.17%
  • QQQQ: +51.90% versus +2.13%

The results are indeed quite impressive, particularly when compared to buy and hold. That is why you hear a lot that buy and hold is dead.
