BRK, Berkshire Hathaway To Split 50:1, To Join S&P500

50:1 Warren Buffets

The Wall Street Journal reports today that Berkshire Hathaway Inc. will likely split its BRK class B shares 50 to 1 tomorrow, bringing the price down from over $3k per share to a more reasonable $65.

The more will make the stock tradable by common investors and not only mutual funds. Today only about 36,000 shares trade every day.

Then increased liquidity will also make it suitable for inclusion in the S&P 500 index, when this happens, the stock will need to be purchased by all mutual funds and ETFs that track the SPX somehow.
