Inflation Rates for Each Decade Since the 1920's


The following table shows the cumulative inflation rates for each decade starting in 1915. Each inflation rate shown represents the total inflation for a 10-year period.

You can clearly see the deflation in the 20s ann 30s, which followed a period of high inflation in the 10s, around the first world war. Deflation only stopped by the decade ending in 1941, in the middle of 2nd world war.

The table also clearly shows the period of high inflation in the 70s and 80s.
